How to quickly cool a bottle of cava?

Discover in the Segura Viudas blog how to chill a bottle of cava quickly.

Cava should be served at a temperature of 6º or 7ºC to ensure that the bubble shines at its maximum splendor. Without a doubt, we recommend our classic Brut Reserva Heredad.

Steps to quickly chill a bottle of cava

The most common trick to rapidly chill a bottle of cava is to place it in a container, such as an ice bucket, with water, ice and salt.

The proportion that is usually put of salt is one part for three parts of ice. The mixture of ice and salt causes an endothermic reaction, the salt needs heat to dissolve in the water and takes it from the bottle, so the temperatures are reversed, the bottle and its contents cool down and the ice water rises in temperature. In principle, in 15 or 20 minutes the cava will be ready to enjoy.

The other popular trick to cool a bottle in a short time is to wrap it in a very wet paper, it can be a kitchen roll or newspaper, and then put it in the freezer. In 15 minutes it will also have cooled down.

And as a complement to these tricks to cool cava or wine if we have forgotten to put it in the fridge, there is the trick of freezing grapes to turn them into ice cubes, the frozen grapes are placed in the glasses and cool the drink, in addition to giving it a special eye-catcher, and to allow us to enjoy later, this delicious fruit.
