Three Segura Viudas cavas have been awarded at the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, held in the Czech Republic. Segura Viudas Brut Reserva cava has received a gold medal, while Segura Viudas Brut Rosé and Segura Viudas Organic Brut have each won a silver medal.
This new recognition demonstrates the high quality of our cavas made in the Heredad, where we carry out all our activity with a deep respect for our roots, the environment and quality, combining tradition and modernity. The winner of the gold medal, the Segura Viudas Brut Reserva cava, comes from grapes harvested by hand and transported in 25-kilogram boxes to avoid breaking the grains. Characterized by its fruity aromas and its freshness and complexity, Segura Viudas Brut Reserva spends a minimum of 15 months aging in the bottle.
For its part, the Segura Viudas Brut Rosé cava is made with 90% Trepat grape, a variety native of Conca de Barberà and very little cultivated. At Segura Viudas we have been a pioneer winery in the recovery of this variety. The last cava awarded was Segura Viudas Organic Brut, which has been created in perfect harmony and fidelity to the responsibility of the winery for sustainability and for its centuries-old agricultural tradition.
This edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles was held in Brno, in the Czech Republic, and had the participation of 8,500 wines and sparkling wines from 46 producing countries around the world. Of these 8,500 participants, a total of 2,520 medals have been distributed. With the current context, marked by the covid-19 pandemic, the judges carried out the tastings for three days, under very strict sanitary regulations and security measures.
