Segura Viudas achieves three medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards

Segura Viudas stands out among more than 16,500 wines and sparkling wines from the main wine-producing regions of the world.

At Segura Viudas we are proud to have been awarded three medals at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards 2020. Our award-winning cavas have been Segura Viudas Brut Reserva, which has received a silver medal; and Segura Viudas Reserva Heredad and Segura Viudas Brut Rosé, which have obtained a bronze medal. The success in this distinguished international contest is a new demonstration of the high quality of our cavas.

Fruit, freshness and complexity are the three main virtues that define Segura Viudas Brut Reserva and the ones that have contributed to awarding it the silver medal. To make this cava we treat the grapes with great care, as they are collected by hand and transported in 25-kilogram boxes to prevent the grain from breaking.

For its part, Reserva Heredad is an elegant and versatile cava made with the best wines of each harvest that will later age in the bottle in contact with their lees for more than 24 months. Finally, Segura Viudas Brut Rosé stands out for its aromas of red fruits and is made with the Trepat variety. At Segura Viudas we were pioneers in the recovery of Trepat, following our philosophy of support for autochthonous varieties, as they provide us with the differential characteristics that we seek.

To determine the wines and sparkling wines awarded in this edition of the Decanter World Wine Awards, 116 experts, including 37 Masters of Wine and 9 Master Sommeliers, have carried out blind tastings of 16,518 wines for 28 consecutive days under the strictest safety and hygiene measures. The reputed British publication Decanter is, since its founding in 1975, a leading publication in the wine segment worldwide, with a wide audience in almost 100 countries.
